There’s No Ceiling on This Church

Wake-Up! It’s time for CHURCH!

These word echo throughout countless homes throughout the world. The idea of Church is now accompanied by images of early Sunday mornings with the family; one less day to sleep in.

Surely this isn’t the approach everyone takes, but there is a good chance that you have felt this way at *least* one time in your church-going career.

But you know now that Church is more than an inconvenience to the sleeping schedule.  But did you also know that Church is more than a building? In fact, the Church has no walls, no ceiling, and no ground!

This is hard for some people to understand. Yet it is true, the Church is not a building for worship, instead, it refers to the commonality of those who are united through the spirit of Christ.

Denominations, buildings, pews…these are man-made items and institutions. Jesus built the church without wood or money. Jesus built his church through faith.

The Christian faith, despite it’s innumerable variations, is still united in spirit by one fundamental belief:

Jesus, the most righteous being ever, is the living son of God, and he died on a cross as atonement for the flaws of mankind.

This very notion is so powerful that it unites billions of people over our great planet. The Church is this unification, the Church is not confined by walls or men, but is inside every human being (even those who don’t realize it).  The Church can’t be confined. It flows like water, dripping its sweet satisfaction on those willing to seek it, quenching the entire soul of humanity.

The Absolutely, Postively, WORST President in U.S. History

Have you heard?  Iran stopped nuclear bomb developments four years ago… Bush lied again, Bush was wrong again.

Can anyone think of a worse president in history?  I sure can’t.  Frankly, Bush is an idiot, I cannot believe that I voted for him.  I am wondering if there is anything good this guy has done while in the White House?  Perhaps, but it is definately overshadowed by all the sh*t he has gotten us in over the past 7 or so years.

Man, what a LIAR!  It’s as if he has used his position of power to trump any sense of human ethics.  Okay, I’m not naive enough to think other Presidents didn’t lie, but at least they were smart enough to not get caught EVERY-SINGLE-TIME!

So we are left with another tarnish on what’s left of our image.

Is Pulling the Plug Murder?

I was in a conversation the other day about how hard of a decision it must be to tell the hospital to pull the plug on a loved one. I can’t even imagine how tough that must be emotionally. But are their immoral ethics behind pulling the plug for, say, Christians? Continue reading

Judge rules Bush can’t block presidential records.

Today, a federal judge “invalided part of a 2001 order by President Bush allowing former presidents to review executive documents before they can be released under open records laws.” (view full story here: read more)

In reference to this story, I found the following comment. What do you all think:

I love this! Bush tried to illegally change the rules to ensure he could keep all of his secrets hidden after he leaves office. Now that the courts have decided he can’t do this, you just know that the paper shredders are busy working overtime in the White House basement. I can’t wait to see how many more of his lies and crimes are exposed after he’s out of office. At the very least, Bush will be spending the rest of his miserable life hiding from angry American citizens. No more fake crowds of carefully selected fans, no more staged photo-ops with the military. All he’ll have left is hiding on his ranch and peeking through the curtains to see if anyone is coming for him.

The Greatest Sin

It is not uncommon to hear Christians talking about sins, and if one is worse than another. Naturally, it says that all sins are equally detestable to God, but is there a sin that rises above them all?

In short, I would say no (although there is mention of the “unforgivable” sin, which is speaking against the holy spirit). Nonetheless, I heard someone say something very interesting the other day that I want to share. During one of my classes at business school, the professor said something along the lines of:

One of the greatest sins that the Bible harps on is underutilization of potential

No Message Reaches Religious Lunatics

Adolf Hitler by Susan Jacoby

I assume that the definition of “religious extremist” is someone willing to kill anyone seen as an opponent of the extremist’s faith or political goals. The idea that there is any point in sending a “message” to fanatics is a fantasy beloved by many good, naive people of all faiths or no faith. What is one to say to Osama bin Laden, whose idea for world peace is that everyone else convert to Islam? Continue reading

Politics & Religion Sporting a New Look

I decided to give the blog a face lift tonight.  The biggest difference is probably the header.  Sadly, I could not get my previous header to work on this format, but I like this template better than the old one (and I kinda like the new header, it goes well with it).

I think the new look gives the website more of a “community” vibe.  Although I was a fan of the previous template, I think that this one is more of the style and feel I want.  I’ll probably be tweaking it here and there over the next few days.

Feel free to leave some feedback on the new look.  Take care everyone.
